About Us

A Mansion In the Heart of Cambria, CA

Originally built in 1983, our mansion has evolved from a high end bed & breakfast to something unique and very much needed. We are now a rental for private groups. We allow only one group per booking. You and your group may enjoy the entire house privately and exclusively.

The Pickford House provides nine luxurious, spacious rooms, each with full bath, shower and television. Additionally your stay comes with full use of our semi-commercial kitchen, dining room, separate living room and parlor as well as a useful outdoor bbq area,

The Pickford House was named after silent film star Mary Pickford. She and many more movie stars visited and spent time together at Hearst Castle in the 1930’s. Room Names are: Mary Pickford, Rudy Valentino, Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, Harold Lloyd, Lilian Gish, Norma Talmage, The Barrymores, and Clara Bow. All rooms include authentic antiques and each have a unique look and personality of its own. Choose the room that best suits your taste in decor.

Fabulous Dining Room & 1860’s Bar

In the Pickford House you will find a spacious unique dining room which is perfect for dinners, functions, family gatherings, corporate retreats or just hanging out at the bar. The antique bar (brought in from the Buffalo New York Hilton Hotel many years ago) will truly enhance the elegant saloon-like atmosphere which is reserved strictly for our guests.

Such a lovely house with plenty of room for everyone. The beds were comfy and everything was clean. The neighbors were a bit cranky though about us being outside and talking before 7am.

Our group of 9 (grade school/high school buddies 60+ yr olds ) just did our Annual “Gathering” (3 nites) at the Pickford House. This was our 5th year of celebrating and it is a fantastic venue for us. We’ ll be back next year for #6!

This place is amazing, very quaint super detailed in an awesome part of town. If you’re looking for an out of the way to stay in Cambria I highly suggest you stay. There’s a awesome little bar, a very cozy dining area and all the detail a super old house can offer. Don’t get me wrong though it still has our technological items that most of us can’t do without, high speed internet, flat screen tv’s , the works. So take a weekend off and enjoy this house just as I did, promise you won’t be disappointed.

From Pismo Beach, Morro Bay or north past the famous Hearst Castle and up into Big Sur – The central coast of california is rich with places to explore and enjoy. Do bring your camera, or at least a decent camera phone!
